Mark Concrete is known as a producer of the finest decorative concrete in the industry. Sealers have continued to evolve and improve, staining and etching have been difficult to manage. Acrylic sealers deliver the look clients seek, but fall short in durability testing. For food preparation areas, we use a complex urethane - acrylic resin coating that is cured using an ultraviolet light. This option is to protect concrete surfaces permanently and make them completely etch and acid resistant for the normal life cycle of the material. This material is designed to offer absolute protection against all food stains, household chemicals and scratching. The chemicals when cured contain no volatile organic compounds. It is free of any odors or harmful chemicals. It can be used on surfaces indoors and outdoors. Regular household cleaning products (Simple Green, Murphy’s Oil Soap and dishwashing liquid) can be used on the UV surface. Dish cloths, micro fiber clothes and scrubbers designed for non-stick cookware can be used. Abrasive scrubbing products (Ajax, Comet, Soft Scrub) and acid based products designed to remove build-up (i.e., CLR) must not be used. An occasional application of wax (i.e., Pledge or an automotive detailing wax) may be used to bring back the shine and protect the surface from spotting and fingerprinting. The finish carries a 5 year limited warranty against staining, etching and delaminating in household use. We continue to use a penetrating sealer and wax finish in other applications such as bathrooms. The UV sealer is available as an upgrade.
